FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
How I work with clients and how many sessions you will need will vary with each person and this is something we can discuss and work out together. Some clients may want to proceed and engage with long term psychotherapy which may go on for several years and others may only want to access a small number of sessions. I am happy to explore and journey with you over a few sessions, or a more longer-term therapeutic relationship.
In addition to being a psychotherapist I am a very experienced counsellor, and the counselling relationship is also available in the various ways we may choose to work together.
Ready to take the next step, why not schedule an initial 20 mins consultation appointment either by phone or online via the zoom platform.
What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
Counselling usually focuses on a specific issue that a person is currently struggling with — such as bereavement, relationship issues, work related stress, academic pressure, or a major life change. It is often shorter-term, typically lasting a few weeks or months, and aims to help someone cope more effectively with the immediate challenges in the here and now. The emphasis is on developing practical strategies, emotional support, and problem-solving skills that help restore day-to-day functioning.
Psychotherapy is generally a longer-term, more exploratory process. It looks beyond the immediate problem to understand the deeper emotional patterns, past experiences, and unconscious processes that shape how a person thinks feels and behaves. Psychotherapy supports meaningful personal growth and is often used when someone is living with longer-standing emotional difficulties or diagnosable mental health conditions.
As a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, I am committed to providing a supportive, holistic approach to therapy. I focus on working therapeutically at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you.
